Why Plumbers in North San Antonio Chase Scale

Plumbers in North San Antonio mostly fight hard water. Homes here are on SAWS city water, about half of it pumped from the Edwards Aquifer, the limestone reservoir under the city, and the water that reaches the north side tests very hard. That mineral load narrows faucet flow like the stream in this picture, cakes the inside of a water heater and wears out valves early. Bergheim Plumbing comes down Blanco Road from Spring Branch to fix it.

The rest of the plumbing is city plumbing too. SAWS runs the sewer, and in Timberwood Park it holds the only certificate to do so. When the Villas at Timberwood fought a septic problem for a decade, the fix in 2024 was a county-paid hookup to SAWS sewer. So when a drain backs up in Stone Oak or Timberwood Park, we look at the line from the house to the main, not at a septic field.

Six Services, North Side Homes

Plumbing Work We Do in North San Antonio

Every service below makes the drive to Stone Oak, Timberwood Park, Hollywood Park and Shavano Park. Pick the one closest to your problem.

Scale and Hot Water

Water heater repair and replacement. On water this hard, a North San Antonio water heater collects sediment fast, and that is what makes it rumble and quit early. We flush it, repair it or put in a new tank or tankless unit, with the price first.

Water softener installation and service. SAWS water on the north side of San Antonio sits in the very hard range, so a softener earns its keep here. We size one to your house and service the one you already have.

Leaks and Lines

General plumbing repairs. Leaks under sinks, running toilets, or a slab leak you notice as a warm spot on the floor or a jump in the SAWS bill. In a North San Antonio house we track the leak down before anyone opens a floor.

Hydro jetting. Grease and roots in the line between a North San Antonio house and the SAWS main. Our own jetter clears the whole run from the cleanout, which a snake in the kitchen drain rarely does.

Faucets and Bathrooms

Faucet repair and replacement. Hard SAWS water packs aerators and chews up cartridges, so North San Antonio faucets drip and lose pressure early. We clean them out, rebuild them or install new ones.

Bathroom remodels and repipes. New plumbing behind a North San Antonio bathroom remodel, and repipes when old lines give out. The family behind the truck has done this work since 1998.

What a North San Antonio Call Looks Like

One call, one look, one price, and only the road changes.

  1. Say Where You Are

Tell us the problem and the neighborhood: Stone Oak, Timberwood Park, Hollywood Park or Shavano Park. David takes the call and gives you a time for North San Antonio.

  2. Blanco Road South

The truck leaves Highway 46 after 1.8 miles and runs 13.3 miles down Blanco Road. Stone Oak is about 27 minutes out, and the drive costs you nothing.

  3. The Price, Then the Work

We show you what failed and what it costs to fix. Nothing happens to your house until you say yes.

Along 281 and 1604

North San Antonio, Stone Oak to Shavano Park

Stone Oak was Bexar County's first master-planned community, laid out in 1985 by Dan Parman on ranchland west of U.S. 281 and north of Loop 1604. Timberwood Park grew up west of 281 and east of Blanco Road. Hollywood Park sits where 1604 meets 281, and Shavano Park began as a rail station in the 1880s.

Every neighborhood on this list gets the same truck and the same rules: no charge to come out and a price before any work. The miles here run from Parman Library at Stone Oak. Tell us your street when you call, and we will give you an honest arrival time instead of a window that eats your afternoon.

Checked Against the Record

North San Antonio Water on the Record

Three facts from the public record, each with its source. They are about the water and the ground, because that is where a plumber's work starts on this side of town.

01

Very Hard at the Tap

SAWS water reaching North San Antonio typically tests 15 to 20 grains per gallon of hardness, in the very hard range, because it comes off the Edwards and Trinity Aquifers. Source: San Antonio Water System

02

More Than One Well

San Antonio's water utility once depended entirely on the Edwards Aquifer and now draws from seven different sources across thirteen supply projects, which is why North San Antonio's water is not a single-well story. Source: San Antonio Water System

Straight Answers

North San Antonio, Your Questions Answered

How Hard Is the Water in North San Antonio?

Very hard. SAWS water reaching the north side typically tests 15 to 20 grains per gallon, from the Edwards and Trinity aquifers. That is enough to scale a water heater and clog aerators, which is why a water softener pays off on this side of town.

Is My Stone Oak House on SAWS Sewer or Septic?

Most likely SAWS sewer. In Timberwood Park, SAWS holds the only sewer certificate. If you are not sure, tell us the street, and we will check the line when we come out.

Do You Cover Hollywood Park and Shavano Park?

Yes. Both are small incorporated towns just off Loop 1604, a little over six miles from Parman Library at Stone Oak, and both are on our route.

Do You Work in Timberwood Park?

Yes. Timberwood Park is the North San Antonio subdivision west of U.S. 281 and east of Blanco Road, and Blanco Road is the way we drive in. From the shop it is about 17 minutes.

How Long Does It Take You to Reach Stone Oak?

About 27 minutes from the shop to Parman Library. We give you an honest time when you call, and if water is running, we tell you where to shut it off first.

Is There a Charge to Come Out to North San Antonio?

No. Coming out is free. We find the problem, show it to you and give you a price, and you pay only for work you approve.
