I started Bergheim Plumbing in 1998. We are in the Hill Country, right between San Antonio, New Braunfels, Boerne and Kerrville. I got into it because I felt like people were not being treated fairly, and I felt like I could be an asset to helping people out.
My family has been here for 230 years. We live on a ranch, my ancestors came from Germany, and we are rooted here. My son Colton works the trucks with me, and if you read the reviews on this page, his name comes up more than mine.
I hate nickel and diming. We do not charge a service call, and if we are there doing the work, let’s just be upfront about everything and say, okay, this is what it is going to cost.
If we did a job at your place five years ago and it is acting up, call. We will come look at it. Fifteen minutes on a repair at no charge is worth more to me than charging somebody.

Lettered on the Hood
Is Bergheim Plumbing licensed and insured? Yes. David Engel holds Texas master plumber license M-36766, and the company is insured on every job it takes across the Texas Hill Country, from Kerrville to New Braunfels and North San Antonio.
A Texas master plumber license means the state tested me, and it stays good only while I keep it current. The number is M-36766, and it is lettered on the hood of the truck, so you can check it against the one that pulls up.
A master license is the highest plumbing license the State of Texas issues, and it is held by a person, not a company. The state board that issues it keeps a public list, so anyone can look a number up before a truck is in the driveway. That is the point of painting mine on the hood.
Insurance means a mistake on your property is covered by ours, not yours. You are not left holding the bill for something we did.
Both are written here as plain text on purpose, so you can look them up and so Google can read them. The same license and the same insurance cover every job we take: a faucet swap in Boerne, a water heater in New Braunfels, a slab leak in Bulverde or a softener in Kerrville.
And there is no charge to come out. You pay for work you approve, and you hear the price before the work starts, not after.
A license is also what lets a plumber pull a permit. In San Antonio, new faucets, sinks and toilets take a permit, and only a licensed plumber can pull it. When a job needs one, we pull it and the work gets inspected.
